As soon as I get my bike back from the shop, I'll have to be putting her away for winter storage. I have a Ninja 650R which doesn't have a center stand. I'm wondering what the best method would be for storning it with the wheels off the ground? What is my cheapest option? Should I get and mount a center stand? Is there a way to get it up on blocks/lift? Are the individual rear/front stands my best choice? Probably important to note that I'll be doing everything by myself, so I will have no help lifting her up off the ground either.
HEEELLLLP!

Its more price, but I say go with he rear and front stands - that way you have them if you ever decide to trackday the bike :)

T-Rex stands, you can get both front n rear stands with triple tree attachment for about $150. Only diff between them n pit-bulls is their not one piece.

OK..showing my ignorance here...but why woud you need them for trackday?
Maverick.... it is best to store it off the wheels so the tires don't develop "flat" spots and also helps reduce rubber rot. I realize that I could rotate the wheels, but once I'm back to work, I won't be able to do it often enough since I'm on duty a minimum of 2 weeks at a time.
PG... how easy/difficult would it be to get the bike up on those stands by myself?
Thanks all!

Most (if not all) trackday organizations make you remove your kickstand.

honestly flat spots wont develop unless its sitting for years and or your tires are flat. but thats just my $0.02 and i store my bike just leaning on its stand, but i totally understand your concern. i was going to do the same thing untill some of my fellow riders said that it wasn't really a prob. ALSO i dont have stands and if i did i probably would use them... so i dont know what i'm trying to say. lol

You should be able to manage doing it all by yourself with no problems. Stands also come in handy for maintenance and cleaning of the bike.

Ahh that makes sense then, thank you!
Maverick! Duly noted... I too have heard both opinions. I figured I might as well get them as the bike will be safer that way. I'm going to be storing it in a friend's garage so I won't be able to check on it all of the time. Lord knows how long it'll be in storage either with all of the crap I have going on.

Oh wow... a guy from one of the other forums I'm on just called me and talked me through a bunch of it. He suggested the Trex stands too. He said he'd help me out with everything if I run into any problems once I start getting everything going. I'm telling ya guys (as if you don't already know...) the biker community just freaking ROCKS!!!!

Actually NO track day organizations make you do this that I have seen unless you are actually racing WERA and then it's no longer a "track day". But it is nice to have stands. I use mine every time I clean my bike, lube my chain, etc.
For the average street riding/occasional track day Joe there is no need tho. I NEVER put my bike up on a stand until I started doing track days. Never did anything to my tires. If you are worried, go out and move the bike a few inches every month or so, but really no need. I never even winterize mine. I throw some Stabil in the tank and make sure it's full, and point it nose out of the garage so I can jump on and ride the second we get a sunny warm-ish day. Ski clothes make great cold-weather riding gear in January! not much for fall protection tho.

Which is why it should not be on.'
Maybe things have changed, but I know when trackdays first started and my friends were doing them, they had to be taken off.

I agree with ya Tash, but alot of place now dont make you take them off, because alot of people didnt have stands and what not.
