Interesting! How many of you will only get DOT and SNELL approved helmets? Mine is DOT not SNELL, my husband's is both. Just curious.

Mine is both, but only because my last name is Snell...hehe it makes me feel special to have my last name on my helmet :)

Ok well there's more reason than that, I just don't wanna type it out now.

Michigan only requires DOT approval, but seems to me that the majority of full faced helmets are both.

Some "experts" claim the Snell rating is too much, something about it makes the helmet to brittle...I gotta find that article again...

Dont believe there is a state that rewuires anything more than DOT. SNELL is a euro standard I do believe.

I don't think so...they are based in California.

Here's that article, finally found it.

Set aside about 20 minutes and read this, it's super informative!

"And after your brain is injured, even more damage can occur. When the brain is bashed or injured internally, bleeding and inflammation make it swell. When your brain swells inside the skull, there's no place for that extra volume to go. So it presses harder against the inside of the skull and tries to squeeze through any opening, bulging out of your eye sockets and oozing down the base of the skull. As it squeezes, more damage is done to some very vital regions."

I'm going to have nightmares from that article.
