I am in the process of doing a swingarm swap. I am going to install a 03 600RR swingarm in place of my stock F4 swinger.
Parts needed:
03 - 04 600 swingarm (05+ has upper shock mount casted in so its a nogo)
1000RR shock
1 6" 3/8 bolt and lock nut
3/8 drill bit
steel tubing to make bushings for the F4/i axle
or bearings/seals that fit the F4/i wheel and 600RR axle (recommended)
more details as the swap progresses...
pix of parts thus far;
All cleaned up (Was all spray painted black) & w/ 1000RR shock installed.

i was going to say, i have a complete 04/05 rear shock, linkage and dog bone if you need it. 5000 miles, perfect condition. that, and 600rr/1000rr frpnt rotors and rear rotor. :D
love seeing front and rear swaps :D

well let me know if you decide to put 1000rr forks on. ill have mine rebuilt/refreshed for ya. i want the 07 forks. 07 has stiffer springs and black lowers.

1krr forks are inverted are they not?
 what all that would involve...

yes, in my opinion, you will need the following to make it happen:
forks, front axle, upper and lower tripple tree's, rotors, calipers and all hardware needed. now the front axle and calipers/hardware is just a guess. im not sure if f4i/f4 or 600rr parts will work. im not sure.
you want 04/05 forks, not the 06/07 forks. the 06/07 forks are stiffer, and due to the lesser weight of the f4i/f4/600rr, im not sure if those forks will work properly. the forks may be too stiff for your bike.

how would the clipons etc work out?
and would the steering head bearings be the same?

Got the chain/sprocket kit in today so I proceeded with my 600RR swingarm swap. Wasnt to bad, if you dont count not having a few needed tools, brand new 3/8 drill bit snap into no sooner than started drilling. And getting the wrong rear sprocket or my bike having a diff cush drive than what it calls for. So atm my bike is out of commission . Emailed Nick, he is getting me the sprocket I need  Hopefully have it b4 the weekend n get everything button back up. Only things left on the swap is too grind a spacer down to give the caliper bracket clearance from the rotor. And said sprocket. Then its tune the new suspension to my fat ass  Here are some pix.

anyhow coolness, thanks for sharing the pics.
other than the fact it looks better, what's the point dude? surely not the better rear shock? (wouldn't getting an ohlins unit be easier?)

prolly been easier, netted better handling n cost 3x more to do  I got a good deal on the RR parts.
Mainly for the better looks, yet to determine if it helps/harms handling (I'm geussing it helps a lil anyhow). And every make went too this type of design for a reason  its stronger.

my mate stunts an f4, and yah, he replaced his standard rear shock with an ohlins unit. it made a shi-t-load of difference in adjustability etc. i'm sure a standard 1k shock isn't as good as an ohlins, but yeah, you should be able to get a much better range of adjustability out of the 1k shock, it was pathetic on his how little you could actually change things (if you're not a 55kg japanese bloke)

ohlins rear shock is about 1000.00 (new), and used is about 750.00+. OEM 1krr or 600rr shock is about -100.00 used.
why the fak would you waste a great ohlins rear shock on a stunt bike????? thats would be like me tossing on some basic pilot power tires instead of my power race or slicks to use at the track on my race/track bike.
PG, make sure the 600rr swingarm does not effect the trail and rake of the bike now. if so, you will have your work cut out for ya as far as setting up the suspension correctly and tweaking parts to get it back with in specs. wouldnt want you ending up in a ditch casue the geometry of the bike is altered too much.

thats nothing girlie. you should hear me talk about racing at grattan. wot topping out 6th gear, banging down the gears to 2nd while braking hard and takin turn 1 at about 90mph+, rolling over the hill and setting up for turn 2 and apexing it at about 60 and setting up for the off camber leftie dragging the knee in the grass to hit the apex correctly.

If you're thinking about a front end swap do it 100% and save yourself the headache. Get then ENTIRE front. Wheel, forks, clipons, brakes, everything.

Plan too but it will be a good while b4 I can. be sweet if like a newer 600RR front w/ inverted forks would fit.

Hardest part is fork LENGTH. Probably not too bad on teh F4 but on my F2 I can't get USD forks without screwing my geometry because the stock F2 forks are LONG. Pretty much all the modern USD forks I might fit are all still 1" or more shorter and I'd rather not have my clipons below the upper triple OR lose the 1" of height.

I don't doubt it, but he probably doesn't track it so the geometry isn't as critical.

not sure what all he does with it. But yea riding on the edge at the track tends to be more critical that most street riding.

Because we picked up the ohlins unit for $200 with a leaking remote adjustment thing they have. My mate (his bike) works in oil and gas. Got replacement oil line, cut it to size, crimped the right ends on it.

PG, i see you got her all back together. hows she ride? did you set the suspension up yet. also if you know how to check the trail and rake of the bike, i would advise doign so. i have no idea how to do it, but i would make sure that its within tollerances of the previous measurements. you might have to tweak the ride height of the rear shock to acheive it. then make the damping/rebound a little softer to compensate for the upgraded rear shock assembly.
looking good man, doesnt even look like a f4i any more.

Ride height is about the same. The RR SA is 1.25" longer. On my test ride it felt too soft to me, so I'll be trying to stiffen it up.

that is one thing i really want to know better is suspension and suspension tuning. if you have a local race shop (not a stealership), i would reccomend stopping by and talking with one of the techs there. tell him what you did, and im sure he can set the suspension up for ya. one of our local sponcers here sets suspension up for about 30-50 bucks. well worth it in my book since my bike was acting excellent at the track afterwords.
glad she's up and burning gass.
