OK..for those who have asked...here is the weekend report.

Track weekend was ok. Started saturday in intermediate for the first time cuz that is what my coaches from mid-ohio last month had told me to. I was too slow and there were some insanely fast ppl in that class, so i dropped back down to novice after lunch with a few other ppl that were also right in the edge of the 2 classes. We cooked thru and had a blast. Passed every single person on the track that was not in our group, some several times in a session.

Sunday i stayed in novice but went out with the same intermediate coach that stayed one-on-one with me at mid-ohio, and again he told me i was ready for intermediate, but i am still not quite feeling it. SO i stayed in novice and got to be one of the fastest ppl out there instead of the slowest in intermediate.

Sunday after lunch on my first session, my throttle was sticking again and i kept missing shifts and popping out of gear, so I got off track to check it out, and as i was waiting for my travel-buddy/mechanic Russo to get out of his session to look at it, I realize I was ridiculously exhausted and decided that I should not go back out. So my day was done.

Then I went over to the area where Natasha (rgrgirl) was hangin and got to chat with her for a bit. I was showing her my throttlemeister setup and then realized THAT is was was making my throttle stick out there! YES>>>> vindication!! It WAS NOT 100% that I was a complete idiot and so exhaused that I missing that many shifts!! I felt better then. It was soo awesome meeting you girl! Should hung out somewhere else tho cuz I am wicked sunburnt from standing there talking to ya! I woulda hung out longer but I could feel myself burning.

All in all, I think i woulda had a better weekend and felt less of a failure if I had just stuck in Novice from the get-go. Had a BLAST once I got into the right group though. Got down to a 1:18 lap time, so that's good I guess. (Track record is :58-ish)

I am sooooo sore too.....owee...i need a massage!!

Met some great people including 2 girls that were in Novice me that are from my area, and told them both about SBG too. Surprising number of ppl there from Rochester this weekend.

Kittah - please don't hate me, but I have to please the masses :)

Here's two pics I took of BadKitty when she was waiting to go out for her session and when she took off for her session.

It was great meeting you!! It was great putting a face with the name. Maybe next time I'll join in on the track day - this past weekend I just was not up to it healthwise.

Set it up! I'll come play!

I showed those pics to certain ppl on here who are curmudgeony and got immediately SLAMMED for not getting off the bike more. That weekend was HUGE improvement for me.

whatever.. two things you need to worry about:

1. Are you riding within your limits and your abilities?
2. More importantly are you having fun?

**** what anyone else says. My first goal every trackday is to be crash free.. I will never be the fastest or farthest off the bike or have the best form or whatever.. But I can say that I would rather go home in one piece - the bike and I - then to push it beyond my limits and wad it up.. yeah they look real ****ing cool as i ride by them on the track as they are flipping around and flopping like a fish in the grass as their bike is doing end over ends being totalled.. looks cool to me - NOT..

If you can answer 1 and 2 yes then that's all you need to worry about. The bonus is constantly learning and getting better - that just comes through seat time and the right instructors. Everyone learns and does things at a different pace. Some have the goal to drag a knee first session, go straight to advanced, etc. and others have different goals. Whatever your goal is it is right because it is yours. Don't give in to pressure and let someone else dictate your goals.

I will definitely let you know about upcoming Grattan days and hopefully we can get something set up. I am thinking early August.

thanks MP. I have a blast every time until some asshat, usually more that one, usually ppl who do not do track days, gets down on me for bad form, not getting off the bike, not dragging knee. But yet, I still go as much as I can.

Late august works best for me. Early August is too close to the rally. I need to work sometimes!

You don't suck Kitty! You've got the courage to get out on the track all the time...I have no desire to do the track...it's very intimidating to me! I enjoy riding all around, but don't want to be stressed feeling like I have to go fast and having all those people out there judging what I'm doing. I do just fine on the street and I have a great time with myself! :haha: That has dual meanings, but anyway! Do your thing girl! You don't suck, you're great, and we all love you for who you are! :muah:

I would only judge you.............................in a swimsuit.. wohoo!

Ok late August it is. I will start working on some dates and see what events are out there and talk to my peepz in WOS. See if we can't get something set up. Maybe Headlight's punk ass will get out to the track. Mfr is talking about modding and pimping his ride all the time just waiting to see when the rubber will meet the track if you kwim (just kidding Headlight but it would be good to get you and some Redline peepz out there too)..

KITTY!?! What is wrong with you? You DO NOT SUCK. I came over here to ask you a question. Found these great track pic's of you and you said you suck. Damnit girl. Looks to me like you were iIN FRONT in all your pic's.
Looks to ME LIKE you got better as the day progressed from the photo's. AND didn't you mention somewhere you were the fastest novice? Didn't you say your instructor said you were good to move up to the Intermediate class?
Testimony that you are an excellent rider silly kitty.

MP I always enjoy your input on any topic. You rock.

I am jealous that I have not been able to do a track day yet this year.
I've always heard Grattan was a great race track. The vintage road racer's I know always seemed to enjoy racing there.

OK here's the original question. :angel_not:

Kitty, what have you done to your front end? ( My Yamaha is very simular in design to your bike.) Are your forks soft or rigid?
What rear tire?
:muah:

Looks to me like you were IN FRONT in all your pic's. or in back or all alone out there...depends what level and what day...

Looks to ME LIKE you got better as the day progressed from the photo's. AND didn't you mention somewhere you were the fastest novice? Didn't you say your instructor said you were good to move up to the Intermediate class? yeah, and i got bumped back down to novice 1 the first day, and then had my instructor keep telling me to bump up, but then had other ppl telling me i am too slow and too tense. VERY frustrating!

All i have done to the front end is RaceTech gold valve emulators and 20wt fork oil, and had the sage set by dept of suspension at Mid-Ohio. Tires are Pilot Powers front and rear. Forks are stock.

Next planned mod is gunna be a GSXR fornt end and a Penske rear shock i think.

We are considering changing out my front end too, that's why I wanted to know what you've done to yours. We are looking at a TL1000 front end for my bike. Still contemplating. I am going to modify rather than buy a new bike I think.

That was my decision a few years back. I am now about $8000 into mods! COULD NOT BE HAPPIER either. I LOVE my bike!

for $10 i changed my fork oil and i am golden.. i would like to do a suspension but i am buying an R1 before i doing any more mods to the R6.. i will be happy for about a month after i do that and then i will be ready to mod the R6 up for the track.. suspension, full exhaust, shark skins.. i have a full Mudpuppy Racing vision for the R6.. one day it will come to culmination.. of course i am saying this knowing I will get an R1 for the street.. Ride the R1 on the street.. And want to ride the R1 on the track.. doh! I am going to put a note under my tach on the R1 - DON'T DO IT MP.. That should keep me in line..

I also have a vision for a SBG, Redline, WOS trackday at Grattan in August.. I am working on it.. Need to get my charity ride and weekly ride in Northville nailed down and I will git r done.. come one come all big balla trackday up in the great white north.. there will be riding, drinking, more riding and who knows what else.. Its always an adventure.. I know some good spots around the Grand Rapids area to keep us fully entertained..

I'm in Queens. Well, since my husband and I did BeaveRun already, probably not again this year. This track crack gets expensive when TWO people are addicted!!! We're trying to hit at least a different track every month..next stop on the track crack train is Danville, VA.
