Yea...that's the only concern I have. Although I heard the cutest thing from him today..he told me that we can raise "little ka-chow" (calling it a GIRL) by the Ocean.

Well, it's predictible if nothing. This time of year is brush fire season, dry dry dry. June 1st is hurricane season and in the summer at least down this far, we get rain pretty regular later in the day. But it never rains for days on end, even if we get a hurricane! You guys will probably be a few degrees cooler than us always but that means instead of 88 you'll be 86 or in the winter, if we are 45 you'll be 43. Winter we don't usually get too much rain at all. If you can take the cold you can ride year round anyway.

There is a pretty good female rider population up there from what I can tell so it shouldn't be a problem finding people to rid with. There is a group that rides every other month, check the Florida thread on here, for the web address. They just had a ride this month so the next one will be July.

Plenty to do up there too. Beaches are nice, Busch Gardens, water parks, Seaworld, Ybor for night life, etc. Plus it looks like there are some decent roads to ride unlike down here!

That rocks! If I can handle the swamp lands of Spring in Cleveland..that's nothing compared to this season here. The air is probably alot less polluted too (salt water vs lake water). Anyway, Im sure I'll find a buttload of stuff to do..I can't wait. Thanks for your help :D Ive always wanted to go to Busch Gardens.:beach:

That made me LOL!! Cuz it's true. I have a hurricane kit stocked and ready.
If a hurricane touches FL you can bet it reaches out and touches NC too.

Does it still rain everyday in FL around 3 in the afternoon? :angel_not:

Same here. It's going to be different getting used to all that..but the only time I like snow is on Christmas morning. So then I'll come back to Ohio for the Holidays. lol. I can't wait now. A few months and I'll be there. WOOT.:flex:*Oh and for the residents of the area, is there a BAD area that I shouldn't move in? Just curious..because were still undecided on the area of apartments and so forth.*

bad areas to avoid what? traffic? crime? you won't avoid traffic...it suxs big time everywhere! if you move near the beach in clearwater, plan on sitting in horrendous traffic during holidays, spring break, and pretty much the whole summer. a few areas that are pretty nice are: Westchase and Harbor Island
Feel free to look me up when you get into town, i'd be happy to show you around!

I was referring to areas to move in...like where's the hood, etc as in places to avoid moving too. Like in Ohio, I wouldn't even think of moving East side of Cleveland. The areas I've seen so far in Tampa look gorgeous..but then again..I know nothing about the area or town.:(

the hoods: any place within a 4-5 mile radius of the I-4/I-275 junction..those areas include Ybor City, Hillsborough ave near I-275, Martin Luther King near I-275, Nebraska Ave near I-4 and I-275, and areas around USF. These are areas around Tampa, if you are moving near St. Pete or Clearwater, I can't tell you where the hoods are there.

Florida, well at least down where I am, is a little different too. You can have one fabulous street with a bad one right next to it. Just something to keep in mind, look at the whole picture.

There are some areas in central Tampa that you should avoid. If you have BIG money there are great places in South Tampa. East - Go to Brandon, North anything should be ok and West gets you closer to the water.

Do you know where ya'll will be working? The way you take to commute should factor in.

Feel free to let me know what you are looking at and I'll check it out for you!
As a general area I would look outside this circle:

My s.o. is a managing sales consultant for H.H. Gregg. There's one going up in Tampa..and we want to try to remain as close to there as possible. it's all about how what you're looking for and much you want to spend to rent/own. my boyfriend and i are currently looking to move closer to tampa. we are at exit 27 off the Veteran's Expressway (a toll road), i work in carrollwood which is exactly 25 miles from our current residence, he works downtown which is another 10 miles from my work. the commute is long, and expensive so we are carpooling to save money. we spend about $1000 in tolls a year, but it's the fastest way to get to work. check out www.rentals.com and some areas you would want to check into are: brandon (the crosstown expressway will become your best friend if commuting to downtown), citrus park, oldsmar, safety harbor, tampa, town and country, and westchase. that will give you some idea of what rent will cost you in those areas. good luck!

I'm just south of Tampa in the St. Petersburg area.

I haven't looked through your whole thread yet so I'm not sure about all the questions you have on the area. I will say that there's a very large motorcycle community here. Some of the local forums are: Tampasportbikes.com , Sarasotariders.net & Clearwaterbiker.com

Alright, now I'll read through the thread and see what you really wanna know ...

A couple more good areas to think about are Brandon, Riverview & Apollo Beach. An area that I've seriously been looking at is Fish Hawk Ranch (http://www.fishhawkranch.com/). Houses range from 150K into the millions and it's all a really safe community. Also, there's a lot of good (for FL) riding out there.

If you have to go into Tampa - yeah, it sucks. Morning traffic in Tampa sucks no matter where you're going and Friday evening is the absolute worst!
