I'm sure a lot of you have some horror stories to tell about what mechanics have tried to get away with or ways they've tried to screw you (sometimes literally!) Let's share!

Here's my current story:

I picked up a used '05 ninja with only 816 miles on it. My mechanic (close friend-so I thought!) went with me to check it out when I bought it and rode it to his shop in his garage to do the tune up. He had it for a month and kept saying he couldn't get the carbs synched correctly and finally last Tuesday, he said the carbs were good but now the clutch was sticking :bs: Wednesday a friend called me from the place where this guy works and my bike was there ... according to one of his co-workers, he's been riding it to work every day for the past month! Also, the odo now reads 1300 miles!!! WTF? 500 MILES!! This guy has been lying to me and riding MY bike like he owns it for the past month! :mad(1):

The same friend picked up my bike for me and I'll be happy to post the entertaining details after I have my confrontation with my ex-mechanic :Splash_1:
It's funny, he still doesn't know that I know what he's been up to! :666:

I did a search and couldn't find a thread like this so I created one. If there already is one, will the admins please merge the threads? Thanks!

Hmmmm, Holy freaking catcow...I believe I would have the phone open and ready to punch the 911 button so they will be on their way whilst I was kicking my 500 miles out of his ass.

Oh, I plan to hit him where it really hurts - in his business! The confrontation will be at bike night, in front of the racer that also has him as a mechanic :aBigROLFMAO:

... And the best part, there will be no "Jerry Springer" yelling. Oh no, I will be there wearing a fresh coat of tact and will verbally back him into a corner until he fesses up to everything :diablo:

Hell hath no fury like a woman who's bike has been violated!

I am so glad I don't have those problems with mechanics. My mechanic rents a room from me at my house.

It may be worse than you think... if that bike's a ninja, unless it's a 250, it doesn't HAVE carbs..

I too work on my own motorcycle. I just happen to have the service manager of Kawasaki as a room mate. My next door neighbor is the Yamaha service manager. Now how crazy is that. I myself have been a mechanic for many years. I was a mechanic for UPS Freight for 8 years. I still mechanic for myself and work on other peoples bikes as well.

That is some common shyt right there. That fella has got a lot of nerve. Did he think you'd not notice the odo? Somehow that can't be legal can it? I'd be floppin' like a fish outta water. I am so very thankful that I'm married to a professional mechanic, and my nephew is a professional mechanic as well so I won't have to face a problem like this.

Catcow? What do I have to do with this??!?

That is insane. I'd so get him back.

I can honestly say I have not had any mechanic probs that I am aware of. I am lucky.

I used to do a lot of my own wrenching but I really don't have the time anymore. It's easier to pay someone else to do it and this guy actually did good work. That's why the suspicion started when it was taking so long and he couldn't figure stuff out.
It may be worse than you think... if that bike's a ninja, unless it's a 250, it doesn't HAVE carbs..Thanks! Don't worry though, I know the difference between carbs & FI, cabled and hydraulic clutches, torque & HP ... bla bla bla.

Yes, It's only a 250 - I'm just getting back on two wheels. I took a little time-off after I high-sided my SV1000S and then got rear-ended on my SV650 a few weeks later.

Ummm I live in Florida how about some details... Name number addy so I don't go to him too.. Besides it might our next SBG outing to go kick his A$$...He's located in Venice so I think you're safe. I'm also going to give him fair chance to come up with a good excuse, grovel and beg forgiveness before I trash his name on the internet.

I know, everyone tells me that I'm too nice.

.... How'd that work out ^^?The confrontation will happen this Tuesday night at Fuel (http://www.fuelsrq.com/)

GOOD LORD GIRL!!!! You probably needed to heal a little after TWO mc crashes. Good gosh! Glad you made it out of those with all your extremities.

Good you are giving the guy a chance at asking for forgiveness or mercy, that's not soft, that's being fair imo. Hope everything works out for the best.

I know ppl in Cocoa, Tampa and Melborne I'll help you trash him. Say the word. LOL

I've long said... The only mechanic I trust is the one that I know where he lives AND sleeps...

Totally sux to have a supposed "friend" screw you over like that, though! :(

That is the exact reason I turn wrench on my own bike..and if I come across something I don't know how to fix, I'll ask many questions. I have to good sources to go to that will let me use their shop..they wont do the work for me, they allow me to fix it all on my own.....Besides, i like getting all dirty!!! LOL!!!

GOOD LORD GIRL!!!! You probably needed to heal a little after TWO mc crashes. Good gosh! Glad you made it out of those with all your extremities.Full Gear ~ I swear by it! After my high-side, I put the broken-off pieces into my tail bag and rode my broken baby 45 minutes home - missing a mirror, turn signal, rear brake lever, chunks of fairing, etc ... thank goodness for frame sliders!!! As for me, it wasn't too bad. I spent 3 days strictly on protein shakes 'cause my jaw smashed onto the inside of my helmet. I can't complain, any mis-hap you can ride away from isn't so bad

Getting rear-ended I laid her down ever so gently and only broke a nail

As for the mechanic, I'll make my decision on which body parts to have removed after I watch him squirm tomorrow.
