Daily Updates
Tuesday April 29
Morning everyone. I know I dont typically do an update on Tuesdays, but Brad and I switched out some hours, so here I am. This morning is a very cool one with temps only at 34 as of 8 am, but the sun should warm things up pretty well by noon or so. It was definately cold last night, but it made for a perfect am with the fog and mist coming off the lakes and the sun trying to burn through it...
Im afraid I have to report a fatality on the Dragon last night. Shortly after 9 pm, a southbound rider wrecked just south of Parsons Branch and had fatal injuries. As I understand it, speed was definately a factor. RIP fellow rider. This is a very sad day here at the Gap.
People, please..... I know I sound like a broken record, but this is not a racetrack. If you are going to learn anything, do it from others mistakes.
Thats it for me guys. Enjoy your day, and please try to be safe. --- Ben

Just got this from SMR
It was some 21 year old kid from maryland on a busa at night that got a little heavy on the rear brake and left a 230 foot skid mark into a tree.

:rip:That's so sad, especially when it was an "aviodable" loss. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I just finished reading about this on a bulletin that was posted on myspace. Man, that's sad.

Thoughts go out to the friends and family of the rider....
Sad, but it also pisses me off... Riders like that are the reason the LEO's are out in full force TN side of the Dragon.

According to Ben, the LEOs have been nothing but friendly this year (county and THP alike). And only handed out tickets to those who so deservingly deserved them. But yea.

BCSO and THP was very nice to us when we were there. Juts don't act like a jackass and they will leave you alone.

You know this last time i was there the LEO'S were great and did nothing but talk to us like they was one of us. They did give out a few tickets but If you are flying after being told they are there then you need that ticket. I guess I am not the best one to say give them the ticket because I also fly through there but.... I do push it sometimes and I hope I don't have a problem like that. If you can't pay attention to the riders that you are passing than you need to slow down. The riders coming from the other direction can tell you a lot with just a few hand motions and if you can't see them than you don't know what is coming or happening around the next turn.
P.S. I am sorry to hear of the fatality.

Me either girl. Heartwrenching it is, especially when you wonder if it all could have been avoided. Here locally where I live there have been like 5 fatalites in a 50 mile radius of my house since February.:(
