How can I revive tired velcro that won't stick anymore? Can this be done? Now my boots have a heard time staying done up even under my pants.

mine have a zipper n just a small velcro flap at the top. Is the fuzzy side matted down? or is the hook side just worn out? If th fuzy is matted down you can fluffing it back up. I'd make sure your next pair of boots have a zipper tho :good:

They do have a zipper that goes half-way up the boot. But there is velcro that goes over that part, and there are also larger flaps with velcro that close the top part of the boot. You can't have zippers that go all the way to the top on raceboots, then you wouldn't have a good fit over the leathers, it would either be too loose or too tight. Velcro gives you a custom fit for different sized calves.

Yes, I do need new boots! I'm looking for another good pair of track boots. But I was going to keep wearing these as my street boots.

Actually, I just looked more closely and it's the opposite. The fuzzy side is too fuzzy. The material is all fuzzed out, like cotton candy. I wonder if it would make it better or worse if I trimmed it back with scissors....
Go to shoe repair shop, ask them to unpick the velcro and sew on some new velcro. Shoe shops have those industrial sewing machines for use on leather and most have velcro for replacing it on kids shoes.

Well my Sidis are well made, not top of the line but definitely not the bottom either. They have a lil dial thingie to close it up on the calves but tight real tight as yours sound they do. You might check and see if the velcro can be replaced for a reasonable price. I know a few ppl that have had their boots resoled etc.

dont trim it. Run a lighter over it.

I'm afraid the lighter will melt the ends smooth, and then it won't stick to anything.
I like the shoe shop idea though. Maybe they can replace the velcro with some wider flaps that will give me more room to get the boots around my leathers.
