OK i hate to bust your Balls. DO NOT USE ROTELLA IN YOUR BIKE. It will build up huge amounts of carbon on your valves. Do not use it. At that yamaha Meeting they showed what it will do to your bike. BAD BAD It's formulated for diesel engines. Why would you use that stuff.
Rotella also has low viscosity. Too low. How do thing ur clutches work? if you coninue to use it on high rpm bikes you will have trouble. Clutch plates have melted together from using this oil.
Do what ya want but youll see im right.

FYI, If you read deep enough on their web site, you'll see that Shell does not recommend Rotella for motorcycles. I contacted them and they said it was due to a very high ash content and causes a build up of carbon in the engine.

Amsoil normally, great stuff, but I have been using 7th Gear synthetic lately because I got a bunch free. Seems to be good stuff too.

LoL. I've been running it for the last ~6k. I've known others to have run it even longer. Never heard of anyone having issues with it on any bike.

I had many users of it recommend it, thats why I am trying it. But I wont condemn anyone for not liking it based of info they got. But carbon build up on the valves would be from more that the type of oil used. Like type of gas, valve seals, sets, and if it was tuned properly.

Just passing along what was said and shown at the Yamaha meeting.I wouldn't run it in mine. alot of people use it in Dr models and single cylinder bikes. I would never use it in mine.
Specifically engineered for diesels. It's good oil and run it if ya want.
would you run ATF trans fluid in your Chevy if it called for Dextron2?
nope.
To each their own. I was just stating what the facts were at Yamaha Meeting.

I think the real important thing to remember here is that oil is very personal choice. Forever study or statistic that says one is bad for certain applications there are the same amount saying it is good.

Tell me what about it chemically makes it a diesel oil? It's high shear resistant (which is good since that is what the clutch does) and it doesn't have the friction modifiers in it that screw up the clutch itself. :) PG is right, too. Carbon on the valves will have nothing to do with the oil. Unless the piston rings are bad... then any oil will cause that, lol.

If you read on the Shell forums n on the jugs, it is intended for trucks etc. But I havent read or found anything bad about it being used in bikes. I have certain things I feel strongly on n voice from tyme to tyme too  No harm, of offense taking on my part. We are all intitled to our opinions.

Im just telling you what was at the meeting. you can run cooking oil in it if ya want. It seems to me like some guy goes out and starts a thread and everybody jumps on the Rotella Wagon. clutches use friction to move the bike Correct? If you reduce the friction the clutches slip. therefore causing heat buildup and eventual failure.
I didn't say i could tell you what the chemicals are in it to make it this or that. No matter what you think your bike burns a certain amount of oil between changes.
If it is so great to use call a Moto Gp guy and ask him what he runs. I bet it's Not Rotella.

We use Spectra Gold synthetic with a Wix filtre. Hubby's research shows these are the best and Wix filtres aren't too badly priced. Mind you, I am still at the break-in stage and haven't hit my first 1000kms yet... Still too much snow in the outlying areas for a decent ride yet :(

You got ur oil I got mine. I change mine every 2000 anyways.
I guess i know nothing at all really. I let computers tell what i should know.
Not visual evidence.

I change every 2k also, and I don't feel like pulling my valves out to show them to you, but you skipped what PG and I both said about that. Valve buildup and scoring isn't the fault of the oil.

I used Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 and Fram oil filters in my 600 the entire time I had it. I'm doing the same with the 750, but I put a Suzuki oil filter in it for it's first oil change. I'll probably continue to do so, since I bought the extended warranty. Don't want them to try to not pay out if anything happens, based on me not using a Suzuki filter.
