WhooHoo.... Got a part I needed fixed for my rearsets today. Going home at lunch and putting them back on. I cant stand the stock rearset or the normal shifting. It kills me to re-learn how to shift stock.lol

Oh I love reverse shift. I havnt used them however in about a year since I went through the back of a car. These are the last piece of the puzzle to being complete again.

Why couldn't you have gp shift with your stock shifter?

I love gp shift too, though. I can switch back and forth between the two, but I prefer gp. Makes more sense to me that way.

My rearsets came in today for my 750, can't wait to get them on. :yahoo: I had Arata rearsets on my 600, but I'm giving Vortex a try with the new bike.

GP wont work with a 1000RR stock shifter. it will work on the 600RR however. The Vortex are th ones I have. Man its been a long time since I rode with these. Gotta keep it in my head which way to shift.....LOL

One more reason to stick with Suzuki. :D

When I switch back and forth between standard and GP, I spend a minute or so before taking off reciting the shift pattern in my head. That usually straightens me out. But I don't have to switch that often, usually just when riding someone else's bike for whatever reason.

And when I bought the 750, I had to ride it home with standard shift b/c the dealer wouldn't change it for me. Something about liability. Like making me ride home like that after a few years of nothing but GP shift wasn't taking a chance. :glare:

I'm not that mechanically inclined/motivated.

on my SV all it takes it removing one bolt, and flipping the linkage around... 2 min tops.

gotta love simplicity

It was that simple on my 600. For the 750 the only additional step was to move the bottom thing to a different bolt-hole so the rod would clear the cases at the bottom.

I just don't like working on stuff, whereas my SO does and he gets bent out of shape if I don't let him do it. It was easier just to ride home with standard shift. I really don't have a problem switching back and forth. It's a fun mental exercise.

Heh, and mental it is! I've got my racebike setup with a GP shift pattern, but the street bikes are 1-down x-up. Only once did I shift the wrong way on the track, and you can bet that it scared the hell out of me! Luckily, I was short-shifting into third to keep the front down.

There's one strange side effect, though... when I get aggressive on the street, my foot wants to switch to "race mode!" I can't count the number of times that I've caught myself wanting to shift the wrong direction on the street. The change happens the instant that I go from tooling around town to spirited riding. :pardon:

Switch your street bike! I won't ever have another bike with standard shift if I can help it. GP just makes more sense in my head. :)
