Ok so that one thread got me thinking hehehe.

As several of you know, I love the twisties. I want to drag knee. I would like to play on the track but I could never race on track, as I said, I just like the twisties.

What about you? Would you do track riding? Would you race track? Do you want to drag knee?

And if you get bored post some SICK "gettin low" pics of either yourself on in your pic collection :)

Would you do track riding? YES! Been there, done that! :)

Would you race track? I'm the pit crew for my man so I'm at the races quite a bit but don't "race" just fun track days.

Do you want to drag knee? LOVE IT!!!!! Although after my wreck I have a hard time dragging the right (bad low-slide on the right a couple years back).

Is acalliste over here yet? She's a great track rider.

I enjoy taking the old knee out for a drag now and then. I've since modified my inside hand and arm position. I'm using more fingertip control and thus it is allowing me to "point" out my elbow more. I do enjoy the track and racing in the MRA, etc. will happen if and when the time is right.

Got my knee down once on the track @ Second Creek on my 929. It was cool. But I still went pretty fast not dragging it. Wish I had better tires that day.... oh well.

OH! I drug a knee on 6th Ave too, and I got a skin graft to prove it. :D

The track is the safest place to drag a knee, I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to do it there?

Me, I am a long way away from dragging a knee but I've been coming off the bike and taking corners a looot better lately, maybe due to a better bike, better riding technique, or more confidence. Who knows? Probably all of the above.

I dream of going to the track some day, but I'm terrified of taking my litre, I'd much rather get a 600 or 750 for it.

Although I'm not afraid of taking my litre bike on the track, I would much rather use a 600.

Safety wiring is not required for track days here, at least they weren't last I checked. We would have to drain the anti-freeze, tape the lights and remove the mirrors.

Haha... thanks for the vote of confidence. :D I'm honestly not all that great of a track rider. Probably the best thing I have going for me is I'm consistent, and know the lines pretty well, or at least well enough to not cause problems for others.

I LOVE riding on the track. There's nothing else like it. It's the perfect opportunity to ride as hard and fast as your heart desires, without worrying about cops, traffic, animals, debris, etc.

I still have never touched a knee down though. I don't know if I ever will. My street survival instincts are too ingrained, and have proven very hard to break. Every time my knee gets anywhere close to touching, I pull it back in. I have to really concentrate on getting off the bike, and I usually am too lazy to put in that much effort. My fastest time around Jennings so far is a high 1:35, but usually I'm right around 1:40. The cooler the weather, the faster I can ride though.

I drag knee whenever I can be bothered donning my leathers. That being said, it bears very little significance to if you're actually going fast or not haha..

If you want to learn, easiest way is to pick a big round about or some very progressive corner you can loop on and off, hop right off the bike, try kiss the mirror, and keep adding more speed + leaning until you hear *SCHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR* and scare the crap out of yourself!!

pic of me showboating, wasn't pulling that much lean angle as it's a freeway onramp on a fairly large bridge :o hows the sparky knee sliders?

Wowzers, those things throw LOTS of sparks!!! Cool

I haven't touched a knee yet, long way to go I've found out, now that I got leathers.

Next year plan is
-new bike
-track day
-when the addiction kicks in like they say it will, track plastics
- and if the money is right, a second set of wheels, w/race tires and race gearing

Guilty as charged. Showboating for the camera.

Sufficed to say, as in my post wasn't really comfortable with murdering the michelin man on a public road with no run off and a big crash barrier less than a metre away. Lowsiding hurts, highsiding hurts even more. Are you implying you can do better? ;)

I race ccs at lrrs New Hampshire for fun. I love it and I drag a knee all the time. I am still a Novice as I have not had a .500 win index yet. I am slower than most racers, but it is a ton of fun and that's what counts. I recommend it to everyone here.

I have to say that I really don't advise dragging knees on public roads. Once you do a track day course or race course you will understand why. Here's a few things to think about.

1. Leathers do not protect you from guard rails or cars coming over the line.
2. Street tires have a fairly low traction coeficient and they do not warm up like they will on a track. (see #3)
3. Street pavement is different asphault than the track surface. Track surfaces are rougher, they are designed with no shadows so they warm evenly, they have no sand, drain-holes, pot-holes or a-holes on them. Well maybe some aholes....
4. There is an ambulance waiting for a fallen rider in each corner of the track. If you need one on the street, you may be waiting too long before the ambulance comes to help you.

Save it for the track. Ride safe.

I don't have a knee drag picture, but I'll see if I can get one. For now here is this, where I may have actually just picked my knee up coming out of turn 6 in Loudon at NHIS now to be known as NHMS

So I have a question...for you knuckle...I mean knee draggers. What kind of knee pucks do you like the best?

The ones that make sparks, regular ole plastic ones or leather and gas?

My ex bought me a set of leather and gas pucks for my suit, they don't make hardly any noise when you get your knee down, but they do wear out quicker than some of the other pucks out there.

I've never tried the asphalt & Gas leather sliders.
Sparking sliders are illegal at our track for racing, so I never tried them.
I use chickenhawk knee sliders or Woodcraft Klucky Pucks.

The Chicken Hawk comes in 2 different polyurethane compounds. One is slicker and harder (White), the other (Black) is softer, but you get more feel. I like the softer (Black ones) because I like to feel where I am. These are also preformed so they fit very nicely on your knee.

The Klucky Pucks from Woodcraft are regarded as the best in racing. They are slick and hard. They are used by a large majority of professional racers.

Chicken Hawks (http://www.chickenhawkracing.com/page/1cu6g/Our_Products/Knee_Sliders.html) are $25-$30
Clucky Pucks (http://www.woodcraft-cfm.com/Scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=12877) are $40

We sell them both. Although we do not have them listed on our website yet. I enclosed links above for the manufacturer's description.
