What do you guys think about the clear and smoke HotBodies bodywork? We can get it, just wondering if there is a demand. I think the clear would be pretty cool if you back painted sections and left others clear.
Let me know...we may stock some. If not we'll just order it as orders come in.

Looks cool, but I see many, many hours of cleaning time.

smoked is clear but I like the idea of back painting the clear though.

the clear plastics in general, kinda cool.
The fact that they are made by hotbodies is :nono:

looks "cheap and tacky" to me, and like someone said, lots of cleaning time! but to each his/her own....

Backpainting it would be the way to go, like the way RC car bodies are painted. You don't have to worry about scratching the paint and it'll always be shiny. I don't see it as a high-demand item though. It's more of a novelty thing.

I'm wondering tho...
If you back paint it, and you wash it often, to rid it of bugs and other things... wouldn't it eventually get "dull" from the scratches and scuffs?
And i'm thinking wax wouldn't do much, since it's not on the paint??
And if you left it clear, and put lights or something behind it... eventually it would get cloudy??
or maybe one with clear plastics wouldn't get ridden that much, so it wouldn't matter? :dntknw:

It would all depend on the type of plastic they used. If its heat treated plastic the way it should be - being in close proximity to engine parts - it should retain its clear nature for quite some time from that perspective.
Now - if you use something that could scratch it to clean it - like a shitty sponge or something that is too coarse - it'd be just like putting scratches into plexiglass over time and detract the nature of the protection it had been intended for.
I think backpainting - hard coating the inside with some heat-resistant coating - and some care - and you could have yourself a wicked unique looking set of plastics...
But I'm still going with the consensus that its more of a curiosity rather than a demand. I'd keep it a special order type item.

I don't like the plain clear body work. if it's going to be clear you might as well just take the farings off.
I do think it would look pretty slick with a little bit of paint, just so you can see that there is something there.

CTJ has this on the nose. Paint it as bling as you want from behind (and who doesn't like it from behind...) and never worry about scratches!
Bodywork is what really makes up a sportbike. What is the point if you can't see the lines, graphics, etc?

Is this the same stuff that the twin turbo McCoy busa used? Is this painted from the inside, or outside? We could be interested.

Yep..........painted candy on the outside so that the LED's inside make the paint look all "kewl"
How well do the lights shine through the paint?
