Top 10 reasons why you
won't ride on the track:

10. I don't have Leathers.
A new set of leathers cost from $300-$3,000 dollars. A good set will last several years and there is a couple of companies that sell used leathers and let you trade old ones in.
Denied.

9. I don't have boots.
Over the ankle work boots can be used in a pinch. Chaparral has many different brands and styles that sell for as low as $60 per pair. If you care about your ankles, pony up and get a pair.

8. I don't have a way to get up to the track.
Everybody has a friend with a truck. Trust me, I have a truck and I have lots of "friends". U-hauls rent for as low as $19.95/day + Mileage and cargo vans are even less. Worse comes to worse, ride up. Just don't crash. It's a long way to push a bike.
Keep trying.

7. I'm worried about my bodywork if I crash.
A set of sliders are about $100 or less. Where are you most likely to crash? Around a blind canyon road with dirt in the middle or a track that is swept clean.
Nope, next.

6. I'll be the slowest guy out there.
Who cares? It's not a race. Chances are you won't be the slowest out there. And you probably won't be the fastest either. There's always someone slower or faster then you. Just ride in the group with similar skill level as yours.
Don't think so. Nice try though.

5. I don't ride a Sportbike.
So. Get passed once by a guy on Super Motard on the outside of corner, and you quickly realize it's not the bike, but the rider.
Good try.

4. It's too expensive.
With track day prices as low as $100 a day, it's the most fun you can have legally (except for Pahrump, NV).
Nuff said.

3. It's to far to the track.
BS. People in other states travel 12 hours or more sometimes just to get to a close track. Willow Springs, Button Willow or California Speedway are all within a few hours of anywhere in SoCal. Take advantage of the location in which we live.
Running low on excuses now.

2. I can't get the day off.
Many track days are now running on weekends.
Next.

1. Why should I pay to ride someplace?
I can just ride the canyons.
Sure you can ride the canyons. One speeding ticket is more then one track day. An ambulance ride cost more then two track days. A insurance deductible is more then 3 track days. Crash in the canyons, total your bike and get a ticket all in the same day (easily done) and you could have bought a set of leathers, boots and a track day.

WTF $100 a day for track day!?!?!?!

WHERE IS THAT!!!!

Here in Erie, Co at IMI its like... what.. $15 per rider!?!?!?
PER DAY!!!

ONLY thing holding ME back from track is the bike. Gotta have a bike to ride track!!!

I'll buy the leathers or MAKE a 2 piece myself, I want riding boots anyways, I'll ride all that way and 1 mile on a dirt road to ride on a track, I will get sliders if not a cage besides I have friends who do bodywork, I'll only be the slowest the first cpl times on the track till I get use to it - and the guys will give me a cpl laps to myself each day, My bike IS going to be a sportbike, IMI is like $15 a rider, It aint that far, I dont need a day off to ride, and I'm willing to pay to be a safer rider and pursue my dreams.

NO WAY? That's it.. I'm movie to CO... LOL.... Jennings I wanna say is closer to $150, but you can go for like $125 if you get in with a group's track day or something (Jessica and Acalliste can probably give more accurate #'s than I can, but I think it's a bit more than $100.)

Most track days I know of are between $100 and $150 to roadrace. I wonder if you are thinking of $15 for a day to dragrace. Thats about the usual price to run at most dragstrips.

There actually is a small kart track out here (it's only 1 mile long) that will allow bikes on for an all day fee of $25. But, it's a tiny track (I never got out of first gear)... and with more than 6 or 7 bikes out there, you are asking for trouble. I don't go out there anymore because it seems like everytime a group is out there, someone crashes.

oh bah :P
There were like 15 guys out there my 1st day up there no one went down. Another time I went up tho a friend went down. Then one of my other friends went down bc he was pushing it too hard.

They only get up to 2nd gear tho :)

A Jennings sponsored track day (Sat & Sun) is $125 if you prepay, $145 if you don't, and usually $100 for a Monday.

If someone else holds the event, the price can vary a lot, esp if it's a school.

Jennings is an awesome little track. Well worth that piddly amount. Concrete pit pads with power, and clean bathrooms with showers on prem. Almost always a track photographer, and food vendors if you don't want to bring your own food. You can camp right in your pit area. And the nicest staff you could hope for. They are really great people. :)
