Well, the motorcycle Gods are not smiling down upon me today. I was getting ready to go out and ride, went to shift the bike into 1st and then realized as I started rolling and felt something weird. I looked down and saw my shifter on the ground. I apologize about the picture size, I don't know how to resize them. I still have not received my owners manual so I don't know how to fix this. If my instinct is correct, i may have to change the entire gear shift assembly, correct? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really need to get her running. She is my transportation right now. She's a 1999 Triumph Legend TT

that sucks, I unfortunately have not techy service to offer, but I'm sure someone here will post up soon enough.

pix are fine. even full sized lol. But yea you got a good one there. I'd say it couldnt be welded back on w/o harming something internally in the tranny. Check with a reputable shop or your local suk dealer

If you're creative / resourceful, you can find a shift lever from another bike that will grip the gear showing - not necessarily a permanent fix, but a good temporary one.

I've never seen a spline crack like that, without it having suffered a ton of abuse first - did the bike go down while you had it? ...or before? That looks like crash damage to me.

I don't know. I have only had it for 3 weeks.....Who knows what the previous owner went through with it!!!

Personally i would JB weld it back together. Half of the threaded clamping area is still in place to it should hold it together rather well. Unless you like to stand on your shifter for some reason u shouldnt have a problem.

Looks like option one will be to weld it. Option 2 will be to go in through the sump and Option 3 will be to split the case. Ugh!!! Going forward, I think I am going to replace the shifter peg with a collapsible shifter peg like they have on dirt bikes!

Dunno if it would hold, but "JB Weld" might do the trick in a pinch.
