So I am wanting to put no drill frame sliders on my bike. I went to a local shop around here and asked about them when I was getting my swing arm spools. I was told that there is no point in putting frame sliders on my Kawi ZZR600 because they would do more harm than good.
My question to you all that race and stunt is this. Should I put them on my bike and if so were? Do they make no drill frame sliders for my bike, if so where should I look for them?
Thanks for the help. Just for reference here is a pic of my bike on stands so you know what it looks like.

I have never had bad experience with frame sliders... they have always saved my bike from more damage... looking at how your bike is set up with the fairings, I'm pretty sure you will have to cut the fairing for the frame sliders. I did a quick search and didn't find any sites in the U.S. (doesn't mean they don't exist) that have sliders for your exact bike... but found a brand in the U.K. (R&G Racing - http://www.rg-racing.com/browseBike/Kawasaki/ZZR600_E/All_Years.aspx) and doesn't look like you can do no-cut sliders for your bike:

Also read that the Intuitive frame sliders for the 6R will work as a bolt-on option.

Those don't look like they stick out very far to do any good or is it just me?

As long as they protect the frame and fairing..They should work.

Right I guess what i am looking at there is that it doesn't seem to stick out far enough in the picture it seems to really protect anything. If that makes sense what I am saying.

Check out LSL frame slider's on surfsidemoto.com I have them on all my bikes and swear by them. They have a low profile which will prevent your bike from "snaging" objects and flipping. They are a little more expensive then most but well worth it. They are also "no-cut" and "don't suck" like some people may think :)
Here is an example:
LSL: crashed 110MPH @ Miller Motorsports Park, dusted off and road the rest of the day with minor rash.
Vortex: crashed 20 mph with over 2K in damage.
Don't skimp on Shogun's or Vortex's, save your money.

I have woodcraft sliders on my bike...haven't put them to serious use, but the bike tipped over in my garage and not a scratch on the farings when it happened. Even after i tried to pick the bike up and accidentally spun it a bit.

So i guess the assumption at the place i went to that sliders will damage my bike is not correct huh.

Ive only heard of a few times where sliders would hurt your bike...Ie: A clutch slider causing the bike to rotate during a let down..That could do it.

So i guess the assumption at the place i went to that sliders will damage my bike is not correct huh.Yanno if I would've had nice sliders on my bike when I laid it down in february I wouldn't have had to replace my plastics.
it was a low speed crash and the POS sliders I had on there were hard plastic and they shattered instead of grinding off like they're supposed to. I had to replace the plastics on the whole left side of my bike.
I would say whoever told you that they would do more harm than good was blowing smoke up your ass.

Funny thing is its a local store that works on racing bikes.

My woodcraft sliders were also recommended by a racer, all racers have them so i don't know why they would hurt.

I don't remember what kind I have on mine, but I would never ever ride a bike without them again - speaking from experience!!!! When I wrecked with no sliders the entire right side of my bike was essentially ground off, would have been much much less damage if I would have had em.
Good Luck!

Once again just because they are "no cut" doesn't mean their not any good (PLayfulGod). LSL's are no-cut and I'd put them up against ANY other slider on the market. Woodcraft are another brand that A LOT of local racer's have used along with AMA guys.
Of course Play probably loves his shogun's :aBigROLFMAO:

I had Vortexes on my 600RR and they did great during a couple lowsides at the track... and when the bike was dropped (blush)

I've got Shoguns (no-cut) on my 1000RR and they have held up very well... .. to each their own, but I have experience with Shoguns and Vortexes and haven't had a single problem.

Different strokes for different folks, agreed Christy :)
I've never heard anything good about shogun's. I had Vortex's on my 636 and won't use them again. They stick out too far and when minimal force is applied they act like a lever, basic physics. Hence why you see some companies (LSL & Woodcraft) have a shorter profile, thus taking the impact and not bending back (see attached pic)

Ouch!
Different bikes probably make a difference too... there are people on the 1000RR forum I'm on who swear by Shoguns... I wouldn't be surprised if because one bike has the frame sliders one inch further back or forward (or whatever) than another bike make one particular frame slider better (or worse) for each model of bike.
Either way, going to be tough to find a frame slider specifically made for the ZZR600...
Make sure to check out www.zzrbikes.com (if you aren't on there already) as you will probably get better information from people who already own your specific bike...

Tried both and it seems that everyone believes that I have to drill into the fairings. Grrr was hoping to avoid that.

Who ever told you that is full of pooh. Frame sliders do help! I don't use them on mine because I hate the wa they look. But I would advise anyone to put them on there bike.

I dont own shoguns I have Vortex and they have done paid for themselves once. From the looks of the pic you posted your slider caught something else on the road and wasnt because the were Vortex (Which is one of the best brand on the market) And I seen more damge from no-cut sliders than I have any others so :nee:
And I havent seen a racer thats skeered to cut a hole in their fairings to help protect it.
Mine dont stick out to far.
