I think the slipper clutch is designed to keep people like you from hurting yourself. It's like giving a child a fork with rounded tips. :heartbed:

im sure you can but its a matter of how hard will it be on that clutch... then you have to ask is it worth the burn out???

The slipper clutch shouldn't have any effect on you burning up your rear tire. Are you trying to do a rolling burnout or static? If rolling are you starting from a stand still or starting rolling?
In any case, the slipper clutch shouldn't be slipping unless you aren't releasing the clutch lever all the way. When I had my ZX10R I could smoke up the rear tire pretty much anytime I liked, never had any issues with the slipper clutch.
More than likely you aren't snapping your clutch out fast enough and are either causing your clutch to truely slip or are pushing the front tire....Either of these seem to be happening?

I'm thinkin tighten up the slipper a bit... should light it up.
I know the new GSXR's and ZX6/10's have slippers, and i've seen many of them do burn outs.
Get weight off rear, hold brake, give gas as letting out on clutch.
I don't have a slipper... so i'm not directly any help to ya.

on my income... even with a dunlop, i'd ride it till it can't be ridden.

I've got a slipper and it's a bitch to burn out. I had peg bruises & imprints on my legs for a week. Just doesn't work as well....is my 02

i guess in all reality, i don't feel a need to do burnouts.
motorcycle tires are expensive enough as it is, and on the average probalby last about 5k miles for the rears.
If i'm feeling squidish, i would much rather do wheelies or something than a burnout.
Burnouts are best left for my cutlass... where the i can get 2 tires for less than the price of 1 on my bike... and it will STILL go more miles.

1. NOT a bowtie... it's an OLDS

I know they are both GM... but back in the 70's there were actually differences.
the body styling was similar, but the mechanicals were different.
take a standard 350.
Chevy block, very common
Buick block, more rare, not the greatest for modding
Olds ROCKET block, great powerplant, parts more spendy as there are less around.
as for the spinning wheels.
i can sometimes get both spinning. not when i power brake, but just random accelleration.
I never said that I got 'em both goin, just that i could replace 2 cheaper than one on my bike!
It will roast the hell out of that one tire if i Pbrake it though!!!

K, I relent with your thorough explanation :) HA. My first car was a 78 firebird 400 big block, cammed out, possey I loved it. Bald ass tires in my teenage broke times, so drove like a sled in the snow.

Sold it to build a Monza with a 350 dropped in, that was a trip. Worked and had a blast. I switched care every few years back then just to get something that I hadn't had yet or build something off the wall. I have finally settled down drive a durango everyday, my 1980 vette is pretty much stock that's my toy and joy ridin cage. The rest is all about the ninja.

I'm rocking the SV now... gonna hand that off to the gf, hoping to score a 07 or 08 GSXR 750 or 1K this spring...
we'll see what happens.

Holy off topic, lol.
I guess I'm not totally up to speed on slipper clutches ... but ... to my understanding, they are designed to slip on decell, not accelleration. So I'm not sure why you would have any kind of problem lightin up the tire? Do the suckers slip the clutch on accelleration also??? Now I am going to have to go do some research, damn ya's all LoL :P

why does ruining of a good tire excite ppl so??? i getting old, I see it as a waste of $$ n usefulness of the tire. I much rather scrub the sides off in the mtns.
each their own as they say

Yea sorry you found a jacked thread.
In my case it could be the operator not the machine. But I have found it challening

OK ... keeping me up even later ... bad bad bad. I did some quick research and I'm apparently correct. The slipper clutch only slips when the rear wheel is trying to rev the engine on decelleration, and acts as a normal clutch on all accelleration. So ... somebody just isn't breakin the tire loose efficiently, in my opinion :P
And for the record ... I'm with Playful-G ... tires too expensive to burn up all the time, and I much rather wear em out on the twisty's any day.
Peace ya'll ... I'm off to bed.

I don't see where a slipper clutch and burn outz have anything to do with each other.
Slipper clutch is mostly to elminate wheel hop when downshifting in a curve.
yes sir... you are correct.

Its hard as heck.
our slipper has nothing to do with you doing a burn out. I have never had a problem. Either gear the R6 up, or grow some balls and give it throttle. It's that simple. The slipper clutch works on the rear wheel driving the motorcycle when you shut the throttle to keep from locking up the rear. It has teeth cut in one direction to allow the slipper to work. Hold the front brake ease out on the clutch, and slowly apply throttle.:squidride:

Yes, Slipper Clutch should not be a problem in way of Burnouts ....
Still if clutch engages, keep front brakes locked, keep twisted (throttle) .... When it disengages, you have a Burnout !!
Also, I agree with Playfulgod that, Tyres need not be wasted like that ....
I do Burnouts sometimes, on my Pulsar 180cc (ON TILED FLOOR ONLY, NOT ROADS (!!!) and so far, no tyre replacement is needed by me ...
As it turns out as a Conclusion of this topic, Burnouts :--->
1. are for special occassions only, don't do it daily ?! :(
2. should be Done on SOFTEST/ SMOOTHEST Surface possible (if really required)
